Hill Top Lions Club Meeting - November 11, 2004

Since our November meeting was held on Veteran's Day, we thought it was important to honor all of our members who are veterans with flag lapel pins. Lion Secretary Bill Heckman opened up the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. We must all pray for the safe return of our troops.
Hill Top Lions members who are also veterans are: Lion Kevin Gaughan, Lion Richard Goodall, Lion William Heckman, Lion Herbert Mueller, Lion Harry Readshaw and Lion Keith Winter.
We thank District Governor Dennis McCarthy for a wonderful meeting and the time he took to install our new members! |

District Governor Dennis McCarthy addresses members of the Hill Top Lions Club. He talked about some of the programs that the district has been involved with, including how the district was able to help some of the recent flood victims in this area thanks to a donation from the Lions clubs international foundation. The district was able to help several families with food vouchers.
The District Governor also talked about how the Lions clubs could help with preschool vision screening, and about the training available to Lions clubs through Pittsburgh Vision Services. Also discussed was the Pa Beacon Lodge Camp for the blind and people with other disabilities and a lift for the camps pool which will help people with disabilities get in and out of the pool. The district Governor also talked about the upcoming state convention. We also talked about the new Lions Clubs International, Public Service Announcement Ads and how they might be used by individual clubs in their areas to help promote Lions Clubs awareness in the communities they serve.
Our club also received a Bronze Award from Pa Lions Beacon Lodge Camp which we will have placed on our clubs banner! |

Lion William Heckman received a Club Secretary Award for 18 years of dedicated service to the Hill Top Lions Club. Mr. Heckman is also a 23 year veteran, having served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. DG McCarthy presented the award to Lion Bill on behalf of the Club.
Hill Top Lion Joseph Setticase also received an award for 18 years of outstanding service to the Club.
