Friday, May 16, 2008 ~ Westerwald Pottery and the Shops of Scenery Hill - 9:00 am - Cost $15.00
 

Bus will board at 9:00 am and leave for Westerwald Pottery at 9:15 am. Upon arrival at Westerwald, you will watch skilled craftsmen make pottery the old-fashioned way. Every piece of stoneware is formed on a potter's wheel, brush decorated by hand and fired in a kiln. You will also enjoy viewing their authentic, hand made salt glazed stoneware. The showroom will be open.

At 11:30 am, you will re-board the bus and go a few miles into the village of Scenery Hill. Upon arrival if you want to have lunch on your own, Century Inn is readily available. Built in 1794, it is one of the oldest continually operating tavern/inn on the National Road today. Some of its famous guests include George Washington, Andrew Jackson and James Polk.

The bus will return to the Holiday Inn at approximately 2:00 pm COST OF THE TRIP IS $15.00

Buses will load at the front door of the Holiday Inn starting at 9:15 am for a 9:30 am departure to the museum.
CLIMB ONBOARD FOR A RIDE INTO THE PAST! Your visit includes a guided tour and unlimited trolley rides (allow 90 minutes for the complete tour):
Trolley Ride: Experience an earlier era on one or more of the restored trolleys on a scenic four-mile ride. Her the clang of the bell and the clatter of the heavy steel wheels over the rails. Feel the power of the electric motors. Some of the trolleys are handicap accessible.
Visitor Education Center: The pictorial exhibit in our air-conditioned Visitor Education Center is an ideal way to gain perspective on the Trolley Era. The 12-minute video presentation in the Education Room will bring scenes of an earlier era to life! Browse through the Museum Store which has a wide variety of books, video tapes, memorabilia and souvenirs.

At 11:30 am you will board the bus for a short ride back to the Shoppes at Quail Acres. There you will be able to enjoy visiting and shopping at the shoppes listed - Artemis Botanicals (custom blended bath & body products), Bella Colore (a full service hair and day spa), Cattail Coffee & Tea (gourmet coffee, tea & baskets), Charlotte's Noble Bears (area's largest selection of Boyd's Bears), Country Confections (fine hand-dipped chocolates), C.T. Miller Vineyards (all wines handcrafted), Dogs Rule Grooming (gourmet dog treats and grooming), The French Quarter (special boutique with these 3 shoppes: Chandelle Chaleur (root candles, specialty glassware, clocks), Ooh La La (NY designer handbags, accessories, jewelry & women's clothing), Victoria Strawn (personal home & garden needs. Seasons of Snickles & Red Hat items). Alfano's will have their Carriage House Restaurant open for those interested in buying lunch. Several shoppes will have free wine and candy tasting for your enjoyment.

The bus will return to the Holiday Inn at approximately 1:15 pm
